Milwaukee to/from Chicago ORD and MDW Airports

Chicago O-Hare Airport (ORD):

  • Airport Express. Trips from Wisconsin drop off at each terminal. Trips to Wisconsin pick up at the Bus/Shuttle Center door #4 and at Terminal 5 door #5E. Schedules and fares at www.coachusa.com

Chicago Midway Airport (MDW):

  • Airport Express. The bus stop is located outside Baggage Claim Door #3. This is a one-seat ride to Milwaukee, but it's not fast - the bus stops at ORD Airport and other intermediate stops on the way. Schedules and fares at www.coachusa.com
  • Amtrak, Greyhound, and Megabus offer frequent service from downtown Chicago via the CTA Orange Line. These can take about the same time as Airport Express, but cost much less.

Milwaukee to Chicago

A plethora of rail and bus routes operate local and express services between Milwaukee and Chicago.

So which one is right?

The chart below only looks complicated. Really, it just shows you each stop and which companies serve it.

  1. Look along the left side for the community you want.
  2. Look along the right side for the stops closest to your origin and destination.
  3. Find a line than connects your two stops.
  4. Look below the chart for explanations about each station, and each line.

The Routes

Amtrak operates seven daily Hiawatha Service trains.

Amtrak operates one daily Empire Builder service, continuing to/from Minneapolis, Portland, and Seattle. Since they don't carry local traffic between Chicago and Milwaukee, they are not shown on the chart above.

Greyhound operates six daily express trips between Milwaukee and Chicago, with many trips continuing to/from Madison, Minneapolis, and Green Bay. Two additional trips make a single stop at Cumberland CTA, convenient copnnection to ORD - O'Hare Airport via CTA Blue Line.

Greyhound operates two daily Skokie Valley local trips, serving Kenosha, Waukegan, and Skokie.

Airport Express operates 14 daily trips between Waukesha, Milwaukee, MKE-Milwaukee Mitchell, ORD-O'Hare, and MDW-Midway Airports.

Megabus.com operates five daily express trips between Milwaukee and Chicago. One trip continues to/from Minneapolis.

Coach USA operates eight weekday (four weekend) local trips between Milwaukee, Mitchell Airport, Racine, and Kenosha. Transfer at Kenosha to METRA UP-N, which operates four daily trains between Kenosha, Waukegan, Evanston, and Chicago. Many additional local stops of these two services are not shown.

Milwaukee Intermodal Terminal (Union Station): 433 St Paul Ave. Paid parking. Served by Amtrak, Greyhound, Megabus.com, Airport Express, and Coach USA Kenosha Route. Many connections available. Close to many major attractions. Taxi stand and rental cars available.

Airport Express Park & Ride : 4960 S 13th St. Free parking. Served by Airport Express. Connection to MCTS route 19.

Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport (MKE): 5300 S Howell Ave. Paid parking. Served by Coach USA Kenosha Route and Airport Express. Shuttle to Rail station. Many connections available. Taxi stand and rental cars available.

Milwaukee Airport Rail Station (MKA): 5601 S. 6th St. Paid parking. Served by Amtrak Hiawatha. Shuttle to Airport.

Sturtevant I-94 : Petro Truck Stop, I-94 & Hwy 20. Free parking. Served by Airport Express. Connection to Racine Belle Urban System routes 7 and 27.

Sturtevant Amtrak: 2984 Wisconsin St. Free parking. Served by Amtrak Hiawatha and Empire Builder. Connection to Racine Belle Urban System routes 7 and 27.

Racine Transit Center: 2984 Wisconsin St. Served by Coach USA Kenosha Route. Connection to all Racine Belle Urban System routes.

Kenosha I-94: The Brat Stop, I-94 & Hwy 50 . Free parking. Served by Airport Express. Connection to Kenosha Transit route 31.

Kenosha Transit Station: Served by Coach USA Kenosha Route. Connection to all Kenosha Transit routes .

Kenosha Metra Station: Served by Coach USA Kenosha Route and Metra UP-N. Connection to Kenosha Transit.

Kenosha Greyhound Stop: 2105 Roosevelt Rd. Served by Coach USA Kenosha Route and Greyhound local. Connection to Kenosha Transit.

Waukegan Greyhound Stop: 2425 Grand Ave. Served by Greyhound local. Connection to Pace Bus routes 565 and 566.

Waukegan Metra Station: Served by Metra UP-N. Connection to all Waukegan Pace Bus routes.

Glenview Metra Station: 1116 Depot St. Served by Amtrak Hiawatha and Empire Builder. Paid parking (no overnight). Connections to Metra MD-N route and Pace routes 210, 422, 423.

Skokie CTA Station: 5005 Dempster St. Served by Greyhound local. Paid parking. Connections to CTA Yellow Line , CTA routes 54A and 94, and Pace routes 250 and 626.

Ogilvie Transportation Center: Madison & Canal Sts.. Served by Metra UP-N. Paid parking. Connections to many transportation services.
