Milwaukee Without A Car

Coach USA

Coach USA (CUSA) operates commuter, regional, and intercity bus service. CUSA operates three separate systems from Milwaukee, plus two other special routes in the area:

  • Coach USA (Milwaukee-Racine-Kenosha route) (Racine and Kenosha Counties) between Milwaukee, Mitchell Airport, Racine, and Kenosha.
  • Coach USA Waukesha County Services (Routes 901, 904, 905, 906) between Milwaukee, Brookfield, New Berlin, Goerke's Corners, Waukesha, Pewaukee, Oconomowoc, and Mukwonago.
  • Coach USA Airport Express intercity between Goerke's Corners, Milwaukee Amtrak Station, Mitchell Airport (MKE), Sturtevant, Kenosha, Gurnee, Chicago O'Hare (ORD), and Chicago Midway (MDW) airports.
  • One special route daily connecting Milwaukee with Dairyland Greyhound Park.
  • One special route weekly connecting UW-Whitewater with Waukesha, Goerke's Corners Park & Ride, State Fair Park & Ride, and Hales Corners Park & Ride.

These services are operated by Coach USA under different contracts. The services do not connect in downtown Milwaukee, and interline transfers are valid only on Waukesha County service. CUSA services can be confusing to new riders, as past contracts apparently did not require them to label their busses. However, during 2004, CUSA has improved labelling and is working to clear the confusion through route numbers and color-coding. CUSA was formerly Wisconsin Coach Lines (WCL), and the legacy shows in their web site and some bus stop signs. Despite previous poor marketing decisions, their operations are very reliable, and WCL runs on time.
